The final stage is regulation, which involves maintaining a constant DC output voltage regardless of changes in the AC input voltage or load current. This is done using a voltage regulator, which adjusts the voltage to a predetermined value using feedback control.

There are many different types of AC-DC converters, each suited to different applications. Some common types include linear regulators, switching regulators, and flyback converters.

 

 

Linear regulators are simple and inexpensive, but are less efficient than other types of converters. Switching regulators are more efficient and can handle higher output currents, but are more complex and expensive. Flyback converters are used in high-voltage applications, such as cathode ray tubes (CRTs) and fluorescent lamps, and can produce high-voltage outputs with relatively low input currents.
