The output voltage of the rectifier must be regulated to a constant level, regardless of variations in the input voltage or load current. Voltage regulation can be achieved by using a voltage regulator, which is an electronic device that maintains a constant output voltage.
There are several types of voltage regulators, including linear and switching regulators. Linear regulators are simple and low-cost, but they are less efficient than switching regulators. Switching regulators use a switching element to regulate the output voltage, which allows them to achieve much higher efficiency than linear regulators.
AC-DC power conversion is an important part of energy transfer in modern power systems.
