Working Principle:

The basic AC-DC converter circuit consists of four diodes connected in a bridge configuration called a full-wave rectifier.

When an AC voltage is applied to the input of the circuit, the diodes conduct only during the positive half-cycle of the input voltage, effectively converting the AC input to a pulsating DC output. The pulsating DC voltage is not suitable for most electronic devices, and thus a filter capacitor is added to smooth out the output voltage.

There are two main types of AC-DC converters: uncontrolled and controlled rectifiers. Uncontrolled rectifiers are simple circuits that use diodes to convert AC to DC. They are also used in renewable energy systems, such as wind turbines and solar panels, to convert the AC voltage generated by the system into DC voltage for use in the grid or for battery storage.
